MK Amir Peretz Visits India

    The Embassy of Israel in India is proud to announce that Israeli Member of Knesset Amir Peretz will visit India to speak at IIT Kanpur Festival and think tanks in New Delhi. The MK will also meet with parliamentarians and government officials in the capital. The visit of the MK comes on the heels of the historic visit of Prime Minister Netanyahu to India in January.
     
    MK Peretz was invited to speak at IIT Kanpur, “TECHKRITI’18” on March 17th. At the conference, MK Peretz will speak about policy making on technology in Israel, based on many years of service in the government and the parliament.
     
    After the conference, the MK will spend two days in New Delhi (19-20) and will speak at IDSA about how the home front became the main front and how technology can make peace possible, and at TERI about how environmental technology and social justice meet.
     
    Peretz is the former Minister of Defence of Israel (2006-2007) during the second Lebanon war and lead the decision to develop “Iron Dome”. He also served as the Minister of Environmental Protection (2013-2015) and implemented national policy of waste management. Prior to becoming an member of Knesset (the Israeli parliament), Peretz was Chair of the Israeli Organization of Trade Unions.
     
    Ahead of the visit, Ambassador Daniel Carmon said, “MK Peretz’s visit is part of the ever growing partnership between India and Israel not only on the governmental level, but also on the parliamentary, academic and people to people level. The experience in technology policy making which he intends to share in India is an invaluable contribution to the technological partnership between India and Israel.”
